As a sail designer and builder for over 30 years, we have seen many changes in how boats are built and sailed.
I have seen furling become the norm for most sailboats and it has been a large portion of our business. From day sailors to the offshore yacht, furling is normally seen on the headsail, and now furling mainsails. Flying sails of all types are now being used with top down furlers. With our experience with sail design, we can make each sail fit the boat and the furling unit without the loss of performance and speed. Even the furling mainsail can be modified to put back the performance features lost with mast furlers. Furling for flying sails does not mean a loss of performance, rather a sail that can be modified to point, reach and perform downwind as well. All of this comes down to our computer design molds, new performance sailcloth and laminates. This is the future of sailing and we plan to stay ahead of it.

This is how we finish the clew for furling. It is done by hand and reinforce with heavy webbing and hand stitched.
